An unexpectedly hard shot by Graeme Slatter in the 2nd minute of play forced Leek City's goalkeeper Jari Henriksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lee Fry showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zack Hatcher in the 15th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Paddy Kear hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Graeme Slatter put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jari Henriksson. Jari Henriksson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Graeme Slatter's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Lewis Meehan struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Jari Henriksson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fulham. After 36 minutes of play, Fulham's Graeme Slatter made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jari Henriksson was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Graeme Slatter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Graeme Slatter made a kick off. Graeme Slatter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Graeme Slatter in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Fulham fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! Vance Greenwood shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fulham had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
