In the 15th minute, Donald Foster ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benjamin Hickson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Horwich's zone, Matthew Harper stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Hickson came out of the goal and Matthew Harper tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lance Lovell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bruce Millman having to make a save. Joel Maxwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruce Millman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Maxwell in the 27th minute of the match. Ian Wallbank hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Benjamin Hickson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donald Foster in the 34th minute. The supporters of Finsbury Park booed when Horwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Scott Duckworth didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Rodney Wybrow in the 43rd minute really tested Benjamin Hickson's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Horwich's Benjamin Hickson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthew Harper in the 44th minute of play. Finsbury Park's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rodney Wybrow in the 46th minute. Finsbury Park's Rodney Wybrow was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Benjamin Hickson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Joel Maxwell made the kick off in the second half. Matthew Harper sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benjamin Hickson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donald Foster, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 55 minutes into the match, Horwich's goal looked a bit too open when Matthew Harper came free, but Benjamin Hickson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bruce Millman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Horwich's Benjamin Hickson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthew Harper in the 80th minute of play. Benjamin Hickson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthew Harper, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Horwich's Scott Duckworth got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Matthew Harper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Hickson having to interfere. Benjamin Hickson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matthew Harper, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. After 97 minutes of play, Finsbury Park's Matthew Harper made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benjamin Hickson was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Finsbury Park had won after a very even match.
