After a defensive mix-up in Redruth AFC's zone, CJ Darnbrooke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cliff Heywood came out of the goal and CJ Darnbrooke tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 16 played minutes Redruth AFC got a freekick which was hit by Shane Blake. 17 minutes into the game, John Nelson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Redruth AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atletico United the free kick. In the 17th match minute, Redruth AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John Nelson to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute Atletico United were awarded a corner. Brandon Potter went to the cornerflag to take it. Conal Hanson was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Cliff Heywood made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Andrew Campbell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurence Brownlow, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Redruth AFC's Marcus Coote suffered a concussion after 34 minutes and had to leave the field. After 34 minutes, Doug Weston mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atletico United and the Redruth AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Atletico United getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Doug Weston hit a great ball. The supporters of Redruth AFC booed when Atletico United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kelvin Edison didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 43rd minute of the match John Nelson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave John Nelson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 43rd minute, John Nelson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Laurence Brownlow made the kick off in the second half. Alastair Fairfax blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cliff Heywood having to make a save. Alastair Fairfax recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Shane Blake hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Conal Hanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cliff Heywood having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Alastair Fairfax managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico United's supporters rose to their feet, but Alastair Fairfax was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cliff Heywood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute, Lloyd Hoskins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Atletico United fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when Atletico United's Alastair Fairfax looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Conal Hanson might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cliff Heywood. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Conal Hanson ran back to his position shaking his head. Cliff Heywood stood somewhat misplaced when Alastair Fairfax came free in front of goal and shot 0-4 to the left of him in the 71 minute. When Alastair Fairfax came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Atletico United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alastair Fairfax couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Doug Weston managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico United's supporters rose to their feet, but Doug Weston was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cliff Heywood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 83rd minute CJ Darnbrooke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Heywood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Shane Blake kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. If CJ Darnbrooke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 89th minute, Laurence Brownlow hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Redruth AFC's Cliff Heywood got control of the ball when Alastair Fairfax tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 95th minute, Laurence Brownlow made a precise shot to the right of Andrew Campbell. Atletico United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5.
