When Alfred Blakeley fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Intersports fc's protests and gave Alfred Blakeley a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes Intersports fc got a freekick which was hit by Alfred Blakeley. In the 8th minute Loyd Moxon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Tipton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Intersports fc's Cliff Tipton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Paul Porter in the 11th minute of play. Diss AFC's John Paul Porter got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sean West fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Speight having to interfere. If Sebastian Fawell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 20 minutes, Damian Acton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Diss AFC and the Intersports fc players grew even worse after the yellow card. During the 22nd minute of the match Damian Acton completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Damian Acton a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Cliff Tipton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Loyd Moxon's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Sebastian Fawell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Diss AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Drew Warner in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the match, Sebastian Fawell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dean Speight. Diss AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sebastian Fawell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Cliff Tipton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Loyd Moxon went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Ed Winstanley hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Carl Harrison struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Cliff Tipton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Diss AFC. Loyd Moxon struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

John Paul Porter might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cliff Tipton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Intersports fc's goalkeeper Cliff Tipton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If John Paul Porter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 79 minutes, John Paul Porter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Diss AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but John Paul Porter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
