Spectators: 7511 (Terracing: 5634, Seating: 1727, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jack Goodwin took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 13th minute of the match Marek Godfrey shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Quentin Thornton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 14th minute Liam Eldridge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quentin Thornton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 16 minutes, Jack Goodwin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jack Goodwin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ivan Thompson during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of FC United booed when Elland Road Faithful was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Thompson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stew Patterson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricky Rockett, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Ricky Rockett took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stew Patterson. Stew Patterson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 31 minutes into the match, Elland Road Faithful's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Goodwin came free, but Stew Patterson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elland Road Faithful's Silvester Buckle got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jack Goodwin struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Stew Patterson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC United. The supporters of Elland Road Faithful booed when FC United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andre Dawson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stew Patterson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jack Goodwin in the 48th minute of play. After the first half FC United were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The corner ended in Bruce Ellerker almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC United's Quentin Thornton did a great save. When Elland Road Faithful's Liam Eldridge in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC United's goalie prevented a goal. Graham Kidd hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Jack Goodwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Patterson having to interfere. Stew Patterson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jack Goodwin, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Elland Road Faithful's Silvester Buckle got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Quentin Thornton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvester Buckle in the 90th minute of play. Silvester Buckle blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Quentin Thornton having to make a save. Ricky Rockett could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Stew Patterson made a huge save. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
