After a defensive mix-up in Penistone City's zone, Junior Wilkins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reuben Welsh came out of the goal and Junior Wilkins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 7 played minutes, Beeston's Marty Goodwick shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Reuben Welsh came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Beeston reached it. Ron Walters received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Reuben Welsh came out and tried to block the shot, but Ron Walters slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. Penistone City's Reuben Welsh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ron Walters in the 12th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Junior Wilkins left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Beeston fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. If Guy Fowler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beeston's Ron Walters got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivan Butt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guy Fowler in the 28th minute of the match. Reuben Welsh was a little too slow when Ron Walters got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 3-0. In the 39th minute Guy Fowler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Butt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reuben Welsh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ron Walters in the 42nd minute of the match. Guy Fowler took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivan Butt. Ivan Butt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ron Walters to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Junior Wilkins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Junior Wilkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guy Fowler couldn't finish the play. Ivan Butt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ash Stone went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guy Fowler in the 73rd minute of play forced Beeston's goalkeeper Ivan Butt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Junior Wilkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute, Junior Wilkins left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Beeston fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Junior Wilkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reuben Welsh having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Beeston fans cheered their team off the field, for while Penistone City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
