In the 7th match minute, Richmond FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Den Bannister to maneuver through the defense. Leeds United's Devon Curtis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 8th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Richmond FC. Darren Byrne didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 10th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. Darren Byrne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Hedley in the 16th minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, Jeffrey Currie recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Darren Byrne. Jeffrey Currie showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Harvey Farmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Darren Byrne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Hedley in the 33rd minute of play. Darren Byrne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lance Hedley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Darren Byrne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeffrey Currie in the 42nd minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lance Hedley was the one to do the kick off. Darren Byrne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lance Hedley, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Darren Byrne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lance Hedley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 55 minutes into the game, Jeffrey Currie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Darren Byrne was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 61st minute, Jeffrey Currie left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Richmond FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeffrey Currie in the 91st minute of play forced Leeds United's goalkeeper Darren Byrne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Leeds United's goal looked a bit too open when Lance Hedley came free, but Darren Byrne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Richmond FC had won after a very even match.
