Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Byron Bowler kicked off to start the match. Ely's Denny Kirkpatrick got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mickey Coyle made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Kris Renner sent off a good shot on target. Mickey Coyle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kieran Rothery's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Kieran Rothery kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mickey Coyle. That made the score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. Fortaleza EC's Mickey Coyle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kieran Rothery in the 19th minute of play. In the 26th minute Kieran Rothery shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickey Coyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th match minute, Ely was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denny Kirkpatrick to maneuver through the defense. Rex Chalmers, 31 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 35 played minutes Fortaleza EC got a freekick which was hit by Rex Chalmers. 36 minutes in the game, Kris Renner fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Mickey Coyle having to interfere. Mickey Coyle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kieran Rothery's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Kieran Rothery fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mickey Coyle having to interfere. With a little luck, Fortaleza EC's Mickey Coyle got control of the ball when Kris Renner tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Kieran Rothery's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mickey Coyle was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kieran Rothery in the 48th minute of play forced Fortaleza EC's goalkeeper Mickey Coyle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kieran Rothery was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Denny Kirkpatrick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ely's supporters rose to their feet, but Denny Kirkpatrick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mickey Coyle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 66th minute of the match Denny Kirkpatrick shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mickey Coyle showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mickey Coyle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kieran Rothery, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ely fully deserved thier win.
