Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Phil Oakes took the kick off in the first half of the match. 4 minutes into the match, Hayling Island's Phil Oakes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dale Kearney narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 6 minutes, Ian Carragher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cheddar and the Hayling Island players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cheddar's Ian Carragher got a free kick in the 6th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nial Short in the 9th minute of play forced Hayling Island's goalkeeper Andrew Childs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrew Childs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nial Short, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Liam Palmer's late challenge caught a Cheddar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Liam Palmer helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cheddar booed when Hayling Island was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liam Palmer didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Hayling Island getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Liam Palmer hit a great ball. Phil Oakes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dale Kearney having to interfere. After having played for 39 minutes, Phil Oakes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hayling Island's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phil Oakes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Nial Short came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Cheddar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nial Short couldn't finish the play. After having played for 47 minutes, Nicky Ward managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cheddar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicky Ward was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nial Short to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Liam Palmer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Liam Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Cheddar's Nial Short in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hayling Island's goalie prevented a goal. Nicky Ward could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Andrew Childs made a huge save. Andrew Childs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicky Ward in the 79th minute.
