An unexpected shot in the 4th minute by Kyle Bartram got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 8 minutes into the game, Hugh Gobey recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Andrew Childs. Hugh Gobey showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. If Liam Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the game, Barry Venables was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New Haw FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hayling Island the free kick. A collision led to New Haw FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Barry Venables hit a great ball. Phil Oakes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Colman having to interfere. If Liam Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marty Colbert's late challenge caught a Hayling Island's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marty Colbert helped the player get up and apologised. Marty Colbert hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Hayling Island's Andrew Childs got control of the ball when Kyle Bartram tried to sneak it across the goal line. Curtis Mead received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Connor Colman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hayling Island's Phil Oakes got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Phil Oakes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrew Childs made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kyle Bartram in the 33rd minute. Andrew Childs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugh Gobey in the 34th minute of play. Curtis Mead fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Colman having to interfere. Hayling Island's Phil Oakes got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Hugh Gobey came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the New Haw FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugh Gobey couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Andrew Childs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Venables, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The New Haw FC fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when New Haw FC's Hugh Gobey looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Kyle Bartram sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phil Oakes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Colman having to interfere. If Curtis Mead had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Hayling Island's goal looked a bit too open when Kyle Bartram came free, but Andrew Childs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Phil Oakes during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Hayling Island getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Phil Oakes hit a great ball. Andrew Childs came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by New Haw FC's Hugh Gobey. But to his dismay, Hugh Gobey quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Kyle Bartram received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Andrew Childs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kyle Bartram fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrew Childs having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Hayling Island's zone, Kyle Bartram stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrew Childs came out of the goal and Kyle Bartram tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Phil Oakes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Connor Colman made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Liam Palmer sent off a good shot on target. In the 95th minute Kyle Bartram shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrew Childs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Kyle Bartram had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. New Haw FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Hayling Island for much of the match.
