When Pete Monk came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Barnoldswick FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pete Monk couldn't finish the play. IceTigers's Teddy Sparks played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pete Monk in the 5th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, Barnoldswick FC's goal looked a bit too open when Matt Durrant came free, but Chip Byfield reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 8th minute of the match Denzil Browne sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Teddy Sparks skillfully saved the ball. Charlie Rush fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chip Byfield having to interfere. Felix Walls kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. A long shot from Matt Durrant in the 14th minute of play was well struck, but Chip Byfield made a really good save at the right post. In the 18th minute, Pete Monk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Barnoldswick FC's Chip Byfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andy Gilchrist in the 20th minute of play. Teddy Sparks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Walls, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Teddy Sparks didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pete Monk went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 33 minutes into the game, Derek Maskell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. IceTigers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barnoldswick FC the free kick. A collision led to IceTigers getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Derek Maskell hit a great ball. If Grant Haskell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Felix Walls managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barnoldswick FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Walls was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teddy Sparks breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Matt Durrant was the one to do the kick off. Teddy Sparks showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Hay in the 52nd minute of the match. With 55 minutes on the clock, Pete Jones commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 63rd minute Jack Hay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teddy Sparks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grant Haskell kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ralf Stockdale during the 68th minute. Andy Gilchrist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 79 played minutes Barnoldswick FC got a freekick which was hit by Andre Turnbull. Teddy Sparks made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Pete Monk sent off a good shot on target. Teddy Sparks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jack Hay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Barnoldswick FC booed when IceTigers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Den Gildea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Charlie Rush struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Chip Byfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IceTigers. The IceTigers manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Barnoldswick FC to win.
