Thom Lineker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trev Wills in the 16th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, Cliff Cox dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Byron Armstrong, 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Roger Dryden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester United's supporters rose to their feet, but Roger Dryden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Byron Armstrong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vic Rain struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Thom Lineker didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Studley AFC. In the 28th minute, Gus Dunn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Roger Dryden sped through Studley AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Byron Armstrong. Thanks to some nice moves Roger Dryden could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Byron Armstrong however easily saved by the left post. In the 45th minute Cliff Cox shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Byron Armstrong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

55 minutes into the match, Manchester United's Ron Mawson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Byron Armstrong narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Rupert Dingle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes into the match, Cliff Cox had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Byron Armstrong. Studley AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cliff Cox was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. In a very dangerous position, a player in Studley AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 68th minute. Penalty! Byron Armstrong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Dryden, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. If Vic Rain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vic Rain could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Thom Lineker made a huge save. After 83 minutes, Trev Briant mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester United and the Studley AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Trev Briant hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Sammy Harban sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
