Bobby Lobb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Thom Lineker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Roger Dryden, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 27 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Stuart Ferdinand was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Stew Jobling hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Simon Spurgeon took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 31st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stuart Ferdinand. Oskar FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Freddie Fitzsymon to strike the kick off in the second half.
