A collision led to Sutton getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Gwyn Garrett hit a great ball. Nial Stubbs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sly Burkinshaw hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute Stewart Torpey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Ramsden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dylon Sawbridge in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nat Bridgeman saved Vega Fc from getting behind. Dylon Sawbridge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dylon Sawbridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Nat Bridgeman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sly Burkinshaw during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 44 played minutes Vega Fc got a freekick which was hit by Sly Burkinshaw. Sutton's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Anthony Doyle in the 47th minute. Nat Bridgeman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tristram Wright, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tristram Wright to make the kick off. When Tristram Wright came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Sutton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tristram Wright couldn't finish the play. When Kurt Monkman fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sutton's protests and gave Kurt Monkman a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Sutton's Kurt Monkman got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute Stewart Torpey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Ramsden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dylon Sawbridge got free with Nat Bridgeman in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nat Bridgeman made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Dylon Sawbridge sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Sutton's Anthony Doyle got a free kick in the 67th minute. Stewart Torpey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. William Ramsden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nial Stubbs in the 70th minute of play forced Sutton's goalkeeper William Ramsden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 74 minutes, Gwyn Garrett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sutton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gwyn Garrett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 75th match minute, Vega Fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danny May to maneuver through the defense. Tristram Wright was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 80th minute. Sutton's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Nat Bridgeman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tristram Wright, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Dylon Sawbridge hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. If Ash Attwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Sutton left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Vega Fc.
