Spectators: 6716 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 0) Wakefield FC's Ray Peat started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Newton Aycliffe's Rich Boyd got a free kick in the 5th minute. Wakefield FC's Reuben Afful played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Widdrington in the 10th minute of play. Miles Osborn was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Roger Holland capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Roger Holland really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Wakefield FC's zone, Henry Widdrington stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reuben Afful came out of the goal and Henry Widdrington tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 32nd minute of the match Deon Cambridge sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Miles Osborn skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Wakefield FC booed when Newton Aycliffe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mike Moss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roger Holland could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Miles Osborn made a huge save. Henry Widdrington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcus Haley took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reuben Afful. Reuben Afful dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 44th minute of the match Rich Boyd sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reuben Afful skillfully saved the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Mick Clough was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wakefield FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newton Aycliffe the free kick. After 44 played minutes Wakefield FC got a freekick which was hit by Mick Clough. 47 minutes into the match, Wakefield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Henry Widdrington came free, but Reuben Afful reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcus Haley to make the kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Wakefield FC's Joe Trueman made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miles Osborn was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wakefield FC's Reuben Afful played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Haley in the 59th minute of play. Jeremy Calder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Reuben Afful tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcus Haley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reuben Afful having to interfere. Henry Widdrington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Reuben Afful tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Freddy Lappin fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newton Aycliffe's protests and gave Freddy Lappin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 71st match minute, Newton Aycliffe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Freddy Lappin to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute Marcus Haley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reuben Afful saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Rich Boyd sped through Wakefield FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Reuben Afful. In the last second Reuben Afful throw himself and got hold of the ball when Rich Boyd in the 78thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After 82 played minutes Marcus Haley rounded Wakefield FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-3. If Roger Holland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Roger Holland came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Wakefield FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roger Holland couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Ray Peat's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Miles Osborn was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. In the 96th minute, Roger Holland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 97th match minute, Newton Aycliffe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mike Moss to maneuver through the defense.
