The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcus Haley was the one to do the kick off. When Brad Saunders came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Sutton fans jumped to their feet. Sutton's Dan Fowler suffered a sore thigh after 60 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 60 minutes into the game, Marcus Haley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newton Aycliffe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sutton the free kick. Marcus Haley kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. After 66 minutes, Kurt Monkman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sutton and the Newton Aycliffe players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 played minutes Sutton got a freekick which was hit by Kurt Monkman. 97 minutes into the match, Newton Aycliffe's Rich Boyd broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When the match was over Sutton could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Newton Aycliffe throughout the match.
