When Pete Delaney fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Eston's protests and gave Pete Delaney a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Eston's Pete Delaney got a free kick in the 4th minute. Alan Roberts's late challenge caught a Wakefield FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alan Roberts helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Eston getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Alan Roberts hit a great ball. Deon Cambridge was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 6th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 10th minute, Freddie Purkiss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th minute Mick Clough shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sammy Hicks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ritchie Odell kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the game, one of Eston:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Sammy Hicks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Peat in the 20th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shaun Ginn couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Eston's Alfie Willmott slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Reuben Afful. That made the score 1-1 after 26 minutes of play. With a little luck, Wakefield FC's Reuben Afful got control of the ball when Shaun Ginn tried to sneak it across the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Wakefield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alfie Willmott came free, but Reuben Afful reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joe Trueman kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Shaun Ginn could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Reuben Afful made a huge save. Alfie Willmott recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Darryl Mansell during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 41st minute, Darryl Mansell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eston's Alfie Willmott got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45thth minute of the game Alfie Willmott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wakefield FC's Reuben Afful was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sammy Hicks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Holland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ray Peat stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 61 minutes into the match, Shaun Ginn had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reuben Afful. Wakefield FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Shaun Ginn was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. 70 minutes into the match, Wakefield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alfie Willmott came free, but Reuben Afful reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75thth minute of the game Ray Peat who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Eston's Sammy Hicks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 78 minutes, Shaun Ginn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Shaun Ginn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 4-1 became the score in the 85th minute when Alfie Willmott elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 91 played minutes Wakefield FC got a freekick which was hit by Mick Clough. Shaun Ginn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reuben Afful didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Shaun Ginn went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Eston walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
