The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Vic Allott managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vic Allott was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Zak Whitworth fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thame's protests and gave Zak Whitworth a yellow card for diving instead. Zak Whitworth kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Dale Lancaster took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 8th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jacob Hughes. Thame's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 10th minute Tyler Osbon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Woodier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zak Whitworth in the 13th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Derek Woodier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Derek Woodier didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tyler Osbon went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 21st minute, Dale Lancaster hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 26 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Greg Chadwick. Stuart Gurney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Woodier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyler Osbon in the 31st minute of the match. After 34 minutes of play, Thame's Stuart Gurney made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Derek Woodier was left in no man's land by his defense there! 38 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Tyler Osbon came free, but Derek Woodier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Thame's Tyler Osbon in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Manchester United's goalie prevented a goal. Gez Rain hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. If Stuart Gurney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Peter Chegwyn to make the kick off. After 52 minutes, Damien Shakespeare mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thame and the Manchester United players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Thame getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Damien Shakespeare hit a great ball. Manchester United's Peter Chegwyn got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Travis Clayton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 60th minute Tyler Osbon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Woodier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 63 minutes, Stuart Gurney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stuart Gurney who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Derek Woodier when he managed to save the team from getting behind. But to his dismay, Tyler Osbon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Derek Woodier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tyler Osbon, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Vic Allott charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vic Allott the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 83rd match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vic Allott to maneuver through the defense. Thame's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
