In the 46th minute, Cliff Graydon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gus Santos was the one to do the kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Eltham fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 51st minute. Penalty! In the 53rd minute there was a penalty for Stocksbridge FC. Guy Rider stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rob Snowdon. 2-0. After 58 minutes, Frazer Cartwright mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eltham and the Stocksbridge FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 58 played minutes Eltham got a freekick which was hit by Frazer Cartwright. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeff Ellis got free with Jude Sykes in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Eltham booed when Stocksbridge FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robin Potterton didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute, Frazer Cartwright hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 96 minutes into the match, Stocksbridge FC's Guy Rider broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Stocksbridge FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
