Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Sid Foggarty kicked off to start the match. Alfie Bennet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sly Dixon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sid Foggarty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sacha Dlyan having to interfere. Clive Llewellyn could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Sacha Dlyan made a huge save. A collision led to Goldthorpe getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Leroy Webster hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mark Revell during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the match had been going on for 20 minutes, Goldthorpe's Sly Halliwell got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Sacha Dlyan. In the 24th minute, Clive Llewellyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Goldthorpe's Clive Llewellyn in 29 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Sacha Dlyan guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. When Clive Llewellyn came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Goldthorpe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clive Llewellyn couldn't finish the play. Sacha Dlyan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clive Llewellyn in the 33rd minute. In the 35th minute, Sid Foggarty reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sacha Dlyan. The goal made the score 2-0. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sly Dixon to strike the kick off in the second half. Alfie Bennet was a little too slow when Sly Dixon got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 53rd minute. The score was now 2-1. After 57 played minutes Goldthorpe got a freekick which was hit by Sly Halliwell. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clive Llewellyn in the 66th minute of play forced Helsby's goalkeeper Sacha Dlyan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sid Foggarty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Sacha Dlyan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Goldthorpe's Sid Foggarty in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Helsby's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Helsby's zone, Sid Foggarty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sacha Dlyan came out of the goal and Sid Foggarty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 80 minutes into the match, Helsby's goal looked a bit too open when Clive Llewellyn came free, but Sacha Dlyan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 3-1 became the score in the 83rd minute when Sid Foggarty elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sid Foggarty in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sacha Dlyan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sacha Dlyan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Clive Llewellyn's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Sid Foggarty recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Helsby players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Goldthorpe.
