Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Cliff Paley took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 9th play minutes Verne Brennan shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Alfie Bennet and just under the crossbar into goal. Alfie Bennet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cliff Paley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 played minutes Stocksbridge FC got a freekick which was hit by Allan Aldridge. Clive Llewellyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sid Foggarty in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jude Sykes saved Stocksbridge FC from getting behind. In the 28th minute Cliff Paley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfie Bennet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jude Sykes was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Sid Foggarty capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sid Foggarty really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Jude Sykes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Foggarty, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Goldthorpe's Jonathon Bowe shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 42nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jude Sykes but with some difficulty. Alfie Bennet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Verne Brennan, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Verne Brennan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sid Foggarty to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Clive Llewellyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Verne Brennan succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 56th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cliff Paley in the 65th minute of play forced Goldthorpe's goalkeeper Alfie Bennet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clive Llewellyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Jude Sykes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Stocksbridge FC's Robin Potterton got a free kick in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Sid Foggarty notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Stocksbridge FC's Jude Sykes. Jude Sykes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dylan Skinner kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Robin Potterton hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Clive Llewellyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Goldthorpe getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Liam Merrill hit a great ball. Alfie Bennet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Verne Brennan in the 89th minute. Clive Llewellyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
