A collision led to Stocksbridge FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Cliff Graydon hit a great ball. With his leg Jude Sykes managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when Alne AFC's Joel Mayfield fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jude Sykes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leon Hughes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jo Bloom didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cliff Paley went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Jude Sykes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leon Hughes, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 34 minutes into the game, Cliff Paley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Jo Bloom was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leon Hughes made a kick off. Johnny Cartwright hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After 51 played minutes, Alne AFC's Joel Mayfield shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jude Sykes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Alne AFC reached it. Joel Mayfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Jude Sykes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57th minute, Joel Mayfield left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alne AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-5. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Alne AFC's goalkeeper Jo Bloom, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jo Bloom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Aspinall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Franz Billing struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Jude Sykes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alne AFC. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Stocksbridge FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
