The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ivor Farrow during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ivor Farrow kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, The Clarets's Clive Gurney broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. The Clarets's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Olly Everett scored to the left of an out of position Fitz Davey, making the score, 1-0. After 35 played minutes The Clarets got a freekick which was hit by Garth Trotter. Toby Byfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fitz Davey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeff Shakespeare in the 40th minute. In the 48th match minute, Leicester was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Manson to maneuver through the defense. Jez Illingworth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 50th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olly Everett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fitz Davey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olly Everett in the 55th minute of play. Francis Coombe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Byron Welsh in the 68th minute. If Olly Everett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jez Illingworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 77 minutes, Toby Byfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leicester's supporters crossed their fingers, but Toby Byfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Toby Slater's late challenge caught a Leicester's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toby Slater helped the player get up and apologised. In the 86th minute, Toby Slater hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fitz Davey came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Leicester's Olly Everett. But to his dismay, Olly Everett quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 91 minutes, Hugh Byrom mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Clarets and the Leicester players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 91 played minutes The Clarets got a freekick which was hit by Hugh Byrom.
