Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Neil Slade started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 11thth minute of the game Harvey Fletcher who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but South Shields's Vince Piercy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of South Shields booed when Chelsea FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Houlahan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 23 minutes, Philip Wilson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chelsea FC and the South Shields players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 23rd minute, Philip Wilson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Harvey Fletcher came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Chelsea FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harvey Fletcher couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Brooke in the 27th minute of play forced South Shields's goalkeeper Vince Piercy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vince Piercy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Garth Ablethorpe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Cliff Stockdale fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored South Shields's protests and gave Cliff Stockdale a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, South Shields's Cliff Stockdale got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Chelsea FC's zone, Stuart Welch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nath Tomkin came out of the goal and Stuart Welch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Neil Slade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harvey Fletcher in the 40th minute of play forced South Shields's goalkeeper Vince Piercy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vince Piercy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Wilson in the 46th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Neil Slade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Nath Tomkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chelsea FC's Philip Wilson quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Grant Shipperley, made in the 55th minute of the game. Harvey Fletcher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The South Shields fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Cliff Stockdale made in the 69th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Chelsea FC's Wesley Brooke. Chelsea FC's Nath Tomkin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neil Slade in the 83rd minute of play. Vince Piercy came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Chelsea FC's Harvey Fletcher. But to his dismay, Harvey Fletcher quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. In the 90th minute, Harvey Fletcher made a precise shot to the right of Vince Piercy. South Shields's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4.
