Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Neil Slade made the kick off and thus started the match. Vince Piercy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zackary Lloyd in the 6th minute of the match. Neil Slade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jez Mann scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vince Piercy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. South Shields's Vince Piercy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zackary Lloyd in the 22nd minute of play. The supporters of Horsforth booed when South Shields was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cliff Stockdale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Neil Slade received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rio Bonds came out and tried to block the shot, but Neil Slade slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 28th minute. After 32 minutes of play, Horsforth's Jez Mann made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vince Piercy was left in no man's land by his defense there! Neil Slade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Slade in the 43rd minute of play forced Horsforth's goalkeeper Rio Bonds to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Simon Maclean was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Horsforth's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave South Shields the free kick. After a rather tough play, Horsforth's Simon Maclean got a free kick in the 44th minute. If Neil Slade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Horsforth were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zackary Lloyd was the one to do the kick off. Vince Piercy was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Allan Henry. South Shields's Vince Piercy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save South Shields from getting a goal against them. The referee gave Simon Maclean a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 64 played minutes Horsforth got a freekick which was hit by Simon Maclean. A collision led to Horsforth getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Zackary Lloyd hit a great ball. Neil Slade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Rio Bonds tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. South Shields's supporters rose to their feet, but Neil Slade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rio Bonds breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 86 minutes into the game, Cliff Stockdale was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. South Shields's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Horsforth the free kick. In the 88th minute, Deon Bradley ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vince Piercy was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 91st minute, Deon Bradley left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Horsforth fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. In the 95th minute Neil Slade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rio Bonds saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chants of Horsforth echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as South Shields had held the ball for most of the match.
