Glyn Titmus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Dennison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bill Broom stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jack Trotter's late challenge caught a Thatto Heath United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Canvey Island's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thatto Heath United the free kick. But to his dismay, Ged Saunders quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Spike Hall recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Sidney Dennison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Thatto Heath United's zone, Spike Hall stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Glyn Titmus came out of the goal and Spike Hall tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sidney Dennison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Canvey Island's goalkeeper Justin Fry, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Thatto Heath United's Samuel Kirkpatrick got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Ivan Hotte took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Glyn Titmus. Thatto Heath United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Sidney Dennison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Thatto Heath United had won after a very even match.
