Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Sidney Dennison took the kick off in the first half of the match. Rick Elam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidney Dennison in the 4th minute of the match. Justin Fry made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Piers Burns in the 7th minute of play. Spike Hall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute Sidney Dennison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rick Elam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lond-Catford's Rick Elam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidney Dennison in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute Phil Langford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justin Fry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Lond-Catford's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Dennison came free, but Rick Elam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 played minutes Lond-Catford got a freekick which was hit by Piers Burns. After recieving a nice pass, Canvey Island's Ivan Hotte tried to score from far away in the 25th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 26 played minutes Lond-Catford got a freekick which was hit by Piers Burns. Justin Fry made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil Langford in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Dennison in the 37th minute of play forced Lond-Catford's goalkeeper Rick Elam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Spike Hall had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rick Elam. Lond-Catford's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Spike Hall was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 47 minutes into the game, Lond-Catford's Jack Rowling nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Justin Fry made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ged Nelson made a kick off. When Blair Bedford fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lond-Catford's protests and gave Blair Bedford a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lond-Catford fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 52nd minute. Penalty! Adam Walters's late challenge caught a Lond-Catford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adam Walters helped the player get up and apologised. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Lond-Catford's goalkeeper Rick Elam, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Spike Hall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 65 minutes, Sidney Dennison managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canvey Island's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidney Dennison was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Spike Hall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rick Elam having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sidney Dennison in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rick Elam prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Spike Hall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sidney Dennison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Rick Elam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Sidney Dennison managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canvey Island's supporters rose to their feet, but Sidney Dennison was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rick Elam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd match minute, Canvey Island was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Byrom to maneuver through the defense. Lond-Catford's Rick Elam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Spike Hall in the 85th minute of play.
