Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Sidney Dennison kicked off to start the match. Conan Swallow might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Justin Fry. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Conan Swallow ran back to his position shaking his head. Sidney Dennison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Carl Jobling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 19 played minutes Thurlaston AFC got a freekick which was hit by Kieran Branch. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristopher Darko in the 21st minute of play forced Canvey Island's goalkeeper Justin Fry to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thurlaston AFC's Conan Swallow got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 26 minutes, Kristopher Darko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thurlaston AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kristopher Darko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kristopher Darko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carl Jobling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Dennison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Sidney Dennison came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Canvey Island fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sidney Dennison couldn't finish the play. 34 minutes into the match, Thurlaston AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Spike Hall came free, but Carl Jobling reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carl Jobling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Spike Hall, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. If Conan Swallow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Carl Jobling made an important save on a dangerous shot by Spike Hall in the 52nd minute. If Spike Hall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the game, Lenny Bannatyne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Thurlaston AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Canvey Island the free kick. Carl Jobling acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 60th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ivan Hotte. Jack Trotter kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Carl Jobling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidney Dennison, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. When Anthony Byrom fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canvey Island's protests and gave Anthony Byrom a yellow card for diving instead. After 70 played minutes Canvey Island got a freekick which was hit by Anthony Byrom. In the 71st minute of the match Danny Blain sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Justin Fry skillfully saved the ball. Justin Fry came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Thurlaston AFC's Kristopher Darko. But to his dismay, Kristopher Darko quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After some careless play in the Thurlaston AFC defense, Spike Hall kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carl Jobling. The Thurlaston AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carl Jobling should have stopped the shot. Spike Hall had several of the Thurlaston AFC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 85 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Carl Jobling as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 89th minute, Spike Hall ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carl Jobling was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 94th match minute, Thurlaston AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kristopher Darko to maneuver through the defense. When Canvey Island's Sidney Dennison in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Thurlaston AFC's goalie prevented a goal. The Thurlaston AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Canvey Island's performance. The match ended with a win for Canvey Island.
