Michael Ramsden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Dennison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 8th minute Sidney Dennison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Ramsden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Canvey Island's Sidney Dennison in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Whitechapel's goalie prevented a goal. If Spike Hall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute, Junior Davenport hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sidney Dennison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Ramsden having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Sidney Dennison managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canvey Island's supporters rose to their feet, but Sidney Dennison was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michael Ramsden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 25th minute Sidney Dennison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Ramsden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stuart Brewer during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Whitechapel getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Junior Davenport hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Sidney Dennison's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michael Ramsden was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidney Dennison in the 33rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Whitechapel's Junior Davenport got a free kick in the 34th minute. Michael Ramsden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Hotte, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 44th minute Sidney Dennison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Ramsden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michael Ramsden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidney Dennison in the 46th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sidney Dennison was the one to do the kick off. Michael Ramsden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Dennison in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Whitechapel's goalkeeper Michael Ramsden had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Spike Hall. Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Whitechapel from getting a goal against them. Michael Ramsden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Dennison in the 67th minute of play. Sidney Dennison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Michael Ramsden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Canvey Island's Spike Hall dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Canvey Island's Anthony Byrom got a free kick in the 78th minute. With a little luck, Whitechapel's Michael Ramsden got control of the ball when Spike Hall tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 81 played minutes Whitechapel got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Panther. 83 minutes into the match, Whitechapel's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Dennison came free, but Michael Ramsden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Junior Davenport hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Dennison in the 84th minute of play forced Whitechapel's goalkeeper Michael Ramsden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Canvey Island's Sidney Dennison got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Michael Ramsden made an important save on a dangerous shot by Spike Hall in the 90th minute. Gez Stockdale struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Justin Fry didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whitechapel. The Canvey Island supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Canvey Island would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
