After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Spike Hall managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canvey Island's supporters rose to their feet, but Spike Hall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tony Webster breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 31 played minutes Byfleet Rangers got a freekick which was hit by Trev Beesley. When Spike Hall, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 34 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Tony Webster was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Spike Hall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Tony Webster tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Canvey Island's Jack Trotter got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anthony Byrom's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tony Webster read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The supporters of Byfleet Rangers booed when Canvey Island was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Callum Coleman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anthony Byrom took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tony Webster. Tony Webster dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Spike Hall could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Tony Webster made a huge save. Kris Ward kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Byfleet Rangers's Tony Webster proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Byfleet Rangers from getting a goal against them. Glyn Carlick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Justin Fry tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
