Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ricky Baird in the 5thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Timothy Gough, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ted Dudgeon in the 6th minute of play forced Newport City's goalkeeper Timothy Gough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 7 minutes, Henry Shaw mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newport City and the Bowburn players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 14 played minutes Bowburn got a freekick which was hit by Craig Bull. After 17 played minutes Bowburn got a freekick which was hit by Craig Bull. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nathan Stamer in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ty Cusack prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Rockett in the 21st minute of play forced Bowburn's goalkeeper Ty Cusack to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ricky Baird had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nathan Stamer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Ty Cusack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricky Baird got free with Timothy Gough in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Timothy Gough made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ted Dudgeon in the 28th minute of play. Ty Cusack made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alan Rockett in the 29th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, one of Bowburn:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bowburn. In the 33rd minute there was a penalty for Newport City. Ed Hubbard stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ty Cusack. 1-1. Nathan Stamer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Ty Cusack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Alan Rockett notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Bowburn's Ty Cusack. Ty Cusack was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Timothy Gough showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ted Dudgeon, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After 43 played minutes Newport City got a freekick which was hit by Henry Shaw. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alan Rockett made a kick off. Ted Dudgeon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Newport City getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Miles Wild hit a great ball. Newport City's Nathan Stamer got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Alan Rockett came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Newport City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alan Rockett couldn't finish the play. Alan Rockett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Ty Cusack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rd minute Ricky Baird shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timothy Gough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81stth minute of the game Alan Rockett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bowburn's Ty Cusack was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Ted Dudgeon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henry Shaw hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Ted Dudgeon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Craig Bull kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Alan Rockett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ty Cusack read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The Bowburn supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Newport City's performance. The match ended with a win for Newport City.
