He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dartford FC reached it. 15 minutes into the match, Ince AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Charlie Skinner came free, but Verne Doughty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ronnie Ferdinand came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Ince AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronnie Ferdinand couldn't finish the play. Ince AFC's Verne Doughty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlie Skinner in the 24th minute of play. Scott Stayton charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Charlie Skinner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
