With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rufus Clarkson in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jude Ellershaw saved Staines FC from getting behind. The Staines FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jude Ellershaw should have stopped the shot. Staines FC's Jude Ellershaw played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Matthews in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Swanmore were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marc Corrigan was the one to do the kick off. If Eric Matthews had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rufus Clarkson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Jude Ellershaw made a huge save. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Staines FC's goalkeeper Jude Ellershaw, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rufus Clarkson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jude Ellershaw having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Swanmore left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Staines FC.
