Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Malcolm Kerfoot got the match started through his kick off. With a little luck, Waterfoot's Lenny Bateman got control of the ball when Gerry Lamb tried to sneak it across the goal line. Victor Tully received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Rob Winship tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Whieldon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 23 minutes into the match, Waterfoot's goalkeeper Lenny Bateman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gerry Lamb. In the 26th minute, John-Paul Ashton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Skegness's Malcolm Kerfoot got a free kick in the 29th minute. Victor Tully sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rob Winship took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Whieldon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 40 minutes of play, Waterfoot's Victor Tully made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rob Winship was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Victor Tully had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lenny Bateman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malcolm Kerfoot in the 46th minute of the match.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Victor Tully to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Waterfoot defense, Gerry Lamb kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lenny Bateman. The Waterfoot fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lenny Bateman should have stopped the shot. Rob Winship made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tim Peat in the 58th minute. Kris Bradbury made in the 62nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Gerry Lamb however managed to control. If Felix Whieldon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rob Winship made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Victor Tully sent off a good shot on target. When Victor Tully came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Waterfoot fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victor Tully couldn't finish the play. In the 80th match minute, Waterfoot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Tully to maneuver through the defense. If Gerry Lamb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 minutes of play, Skegness's Philip Rayner made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lenny Bateman was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Gerry Lamb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
