Frank Goldsmith charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kyle Barraclough showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Les Newby, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Liam Dwyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Colin Budge in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Colin Budge was the one to do the kick off. The Alsager AFC fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Alsager AFC's Les Newby looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alsager AFC's goalkeeper Liam Dwyer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Les Newby who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 66thth minute tested the skills of Kyle Barraclough when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 69 minutes into the match, Alsager AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Colin Budge came free, but Liam Dwyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Liam Dwyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Colin Budge in the 70th minute of play. In the 71st minute Tom Mason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Liam Dwyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jamie Lister kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Frank Goldsmith got his second yellow card in the match during the 86th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Tom Mason recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tom Mason received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Liam Dwyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Alsager AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
