Rio Short made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alexander Brazier in the 18th minute. After 21 minutes, Martin Braithwaite mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hailsham and the Ely FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 21st minute, Martin Braithwaite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute, Alexander Brazier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kenny Crossman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Rio Short tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Alexander Brazier came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Ely FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexander Brazier couldn't finish the play. Alexander Charie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Warren Darling read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Rio Short stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenny Crossman's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Warren Darling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bradley Johnstone in the 37th minute of the match. Bradley Johnstone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Warren Darling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The wind increased when Kenny Crossman made the kick off in the second half. Rio Short made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenny Crossman in the 55th minute of play. After 56 minutes, Wes Knott mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hailsham and the Ely FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 56 played minutes Hailsham got a freekick which was hit by Wes Knott. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Alexander Brazier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ely FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexander Brazier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rio Short breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ely FC's goalkeeper Warren Darling, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pierce Clayson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rio Short having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Alexander Brazier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ely FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexander Brazier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rio Short breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeremy Elam charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremy Elam the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexander Charie got free with Warren Darling in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Warren Darling was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alexander Charie showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 96 minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Hailsham had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
