Thanks to some nice moves Martyn Pollard could shoot a difficult shot in the 6th minute, which Jack Meechan however easily saved by the left post. Appleshaw's Jack Meechan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Appleshaw from getting a goal against them. Hayden Greenwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Jack Meechan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jack Meechan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Seaward, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clive Fowler struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Glenn Birch didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Appleshaw. If Hayden Greenwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Coventry City F.C. booed when Appleshaw was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clive Fowler didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Dave Seaward's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jack Meechan was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Hayden Greenwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Seaward in the 61st minute of play forced Appleshaw's goalkeeper Jack Meechan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute of the match Lewis Briant shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jack Meechan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Appleshaw defense, Hayden Greenwood kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jack Meechan. The Appleshaw fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jack Meechan should have stopped the shot. Hayden Greenwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jack Meechan having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Dave Seaward made a precise shot to the right of Jack Meechan. Appleshaw's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Coventry City F.C. had won after a very even match.
