After 4 played minutes Wirral Rubbish got a freekick which was hit by Louie Bartlett. In the 7th match minute, Upwell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dean Goodman to maneuver through the defense. Barry Tindale hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. When Dean Goodman was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 12 minutes had been played. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Upwell! Louie Bartlett shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Ash Wing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky Addison having to interfere. Marty Hartley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky Addison having to interfere. In the 24th match minute, Upwell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastien Horseman to maneuver through the defense. Piers Floyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Deon Way tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Deon Way took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piers Floyd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Keith McGrath scored 0-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Deon Way, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicky Addison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marty Hartley in the 40th minute of the match. Deon Way showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Piers Floyd, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After a rather tough play, Upwell's Luke Pope got a free kick in the 47th minute. After the first half Upwell were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ash Wing made a kick off. Piers Floyd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Piers Floyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Deon Way having to interfere. The supporters of Upwell booed when Wirral Rubbish was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louie Bartlett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wirral Rubbish's Jason Sercombe was substituted for Sacha Wild. A collision led to Wirral Rubbish getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Louie Bartlett hit a great ball. 71 minutes into the match, Wirral Rubbish's goalkeeper Deon Way had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Piers Floyd. Jason Sercombe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Upwell's Nicky Addison played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marty Hartley in the 88th minute of play. Marty Hartley struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Nicky Addison didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wirral Rubbish. Nicky Addison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ash Wing in the 90th minute of the match. If Marty Hartley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ash Wing struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Nicky Addison didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wirral Rubbish. Wirral Rubbish's Marty Hartley got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Wirral Rubbish lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
