Sonny Giugno made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 6 minutes into the match, Nicky Robinson notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Lincoln City's Sonny Giugno. Sonny Giugno was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 12 minutes into the match, Berwick Rangers's goal looked a bit too open when Matthew MacDonald came free, but Charles Coulson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot 13 in the game by Norman Keyworth from a close distance when the talented Charles Coulson managed to make a qualified save. Berwick Rangers's players were relieved. If Albert Sills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matthew MacDonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Charles Coulson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Lincoln City's Johnnie Boland got a free kick in the 20th minute. If Norman Keyworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricky Myers hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Nicky Robinson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Frazer McAleer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Giugno having to interfere. Steven Searle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sonny Giugno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The Lincoln City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Berwick Rangers were winning 0-2.

After a defensive mix-up in Berwick Rangers's zone, Matthew MacDonald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Coulson came out of the goal and Matthew MacDonald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steven Searle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Giugno having to interfere. Charles Coulson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norman Keyworth in the 62nd minute of the match. Sonny Giugno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven Searle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the match, Lincoln City's goal looked a bit too open when Steven Searle came free, but Sonny Giugno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frazer McAleer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Giugno having to interfere. If Steven Searle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lincoln City's Matthew MacDonald got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 84th minute Steven Searle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sonny Giugno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frazer McAleer's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Sonny Giugno skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matthew MacDonald in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Charles Coulson saved Berwick Rangers from getting behind. In the 93rd minute, Frazer McAleer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Berwick Rangers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3.
