Jo Kidd made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 22 minutes of play, Settle's Bob Love made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jo Kidd was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th minute, William Martindale ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jo Kidd was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Bob Love blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jo Kidd having to make a save. Bob Love struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Jo Kidd didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Settle. Bob Love received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Jo Kidd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bob Love was the one to do the kick off. In the 66th minute, Bob Love reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jo Kidd. The goal made the score 0-5. The supporters of Old Excelsiors FC booed when Settle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sonny Southgate didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kasey Davis charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Kasey Davis hit a great ball. Edward Eastwood recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Old Excelsiors FC booed when Settle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Eastwood didn't get a good kick on the ball.
