Sid Auckland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Eric Wardman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Tommy Carlick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 14 minutes into the match, Simon Carey-Bertram notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Worthing United's Eric May. Eric May was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tommy Carlick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Worthing United's Eric May played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Carlick in the 21st minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Worthing United's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Carey-Bertram came free, but Eric May reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Maidstone City fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Maidstone City's Simon Carey-Bertram looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Worthing United's zone, Simon Carey-Bertram stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric May came out of the goal and Simon Carey-Bertram tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Maidstone City's Tommy Carlick got a free kick in the 36th minute. Eric May showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Carlick, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 48 minutes into the game, Josh Sheene was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Worthing United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maidstone City the free kick. Josh Sheene hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 61 minutes, Ethan Swift mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Worthing United and the Maidstone City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Worthing United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ethan Swift to maneuver through the defense. Eric Wardman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rowan Blake, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Maidstone City's zone, Sid Auckland stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Wardman came out of the goal and Sid Auckland tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eric Wardman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sid Auckland's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Eric May made an important save on a dangerous shot by Simon Carey-Bertram in the 80th minute. With a little luck, Worthing United's Eric May got control of the ball when Simon Carey-Bertram tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Worthing United fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when Worthing United's Sid Auckland looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Maidstone City getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ian Unsworth hit a great ball. Simon Carey-Bertram fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric May having to interfere. The Maidstone City players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
