Ivor Boyce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 4th minute, Ian Blake reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Grant Rogers. The goal made the score 1-0. Ivor Boyce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. HULL CITY FC's Andy Smith got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eric Mahon kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Ivor Boyce could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Grant Rogers made a huge save. Grant Rogers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Smith, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andrew Lynam hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. HULL CITY FC's Steven Leather shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Grant Rogers but with some difficulty. Frankie Vazquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doug Wishart, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Andy Smith fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grant Rogers having to interfere. Grant Rogers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andy Smith in the 37th minute of play. Ivor Boyce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grant Rogers having to interfere. Andy Smith recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Blake in the 47th minute of play forced Universal Sc's goalkeeper Grant Rogers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The wind increased when Andy Smith made the kick off in the second half. Universal Sc's Grant Rogers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivor Boyce in the 54th minute of play. Grant Rogers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andy Smith in the 55th minute of the match. In the 58th minute of the match Steven Leather shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Grant Rogers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 59 minutes into the game, HULL CITY FC's Andy Smith nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Grant Rogers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Grant Rogers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Smith, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grant Rogers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ian Blake went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. 75 minutes into the match, Universal Sc's goal looked a bit too open when Ian Blake came free, but Grant Rogers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 79 minutes of play, HULL CITY FC's Ian Blake made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Grant Rogers was left in no man's land by his defense there! Grant Rogers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Blake in the 84th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Universal Sc defense, Andy Smith kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Grant Rogers. The Universal Sc fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Grant Rogers should have stopped the shot. Grant Rogers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian Blake, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee ended the match the HULL CITY FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
