In the 10th minute Eric Mann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mitch Archer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mitch Archer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Fleming, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The supporters of Manchester City booed when Harefield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Downing didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eric Mann kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Eric Mann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mitch Archer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Harefield's Kris Downing dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Shawn Bodsworth charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Shawn Bodsworth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Manchester City's Noel Doona proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Manchester City from getting a goal against them. After 30 played minutes Harefield got a freekick which was hit by Kris Downing. The supporters of Harefield booed when Manchester City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Fleming didn't get a good kick on the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Harefield's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Mann came free, but Mitch Archer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mitch Archer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vance Rogers in the 37th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Vance Rogers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eric Mann struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Mitch Archer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester City. Mitch Archer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Richard Fleming's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. Mitch Archer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg Crossley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rupert Illingworth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eric Mann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eric Mann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Vance Rogers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester City's supporters rose to their feet, but Vance Rogers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mitch Archer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vance Rogers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mitch Archer having to interfere. Manchester City's Greg Crossley got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Richard Fleming struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Mitch Archer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester City. Gordon Scargill's late challenge caught a Manchester City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
