Sutton Coldfield's Jon Nash played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Ashton in the 9th minute of play. In the 11th play minute Jeffrey Marchant came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jon Nash. 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Sutton Coldfield's goalkeeper Jon Nash had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jeffrey Marchant. Silvester Bensley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graham Notley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Sutton Coldfield were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcus Ashton to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, one of BailesFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 64 minutes into the match, Sutton Coldfield's goal looked a bit too open when Jeffrey Marchant came free, but Jon Nash reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sutton Coldfield's Brad Harris got a free kick in the 65th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Jeffrey Marchant managed to get in a good position for a shot. BailesFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jeffrey Marchant was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jon Nash breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jon Nash made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Ashton in the 69th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Jeffrey Marchant got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, BailesFC's Silvester Bensley got control of the ball when Graham Notley tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jeffrey Marchant struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Jon Nash didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BailesFC. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sutton Coldfield had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
