Rueben Hanson came out of the goal and Philip Poate tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Pat Burns put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rueben Hanson. When Pat Burns came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the British Knights fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pat Burns couldn't finish the play. Rueben Hanson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Edmunds in the 14th minute of play. Shawn Brookes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leigh Bullard firmly grabbed it by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Sanderson in the 18th minute of play forced Salford FC's goalkeeper Rueben Hanson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 minutes, Loyd Wilberforce mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salford FC and the British Knights players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 19 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Salford FC! In the 24th minute Ivan Sanderson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rueben Hanson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rueben Rowling during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of British Knights booed when Salford FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rueben Rowling didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ivan Sanderson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rueben Hanson having to make a save. After 47 played minutes, British Knights's Joe Kempson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rueben Hanson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in British Knights reached it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pat Burns was the one to do the kick off. Pat Burns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 53 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Pat Burns sped through Salford FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rueben Hanson. Through an outstanding action, after 61 minutes, Rueben Hanson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Rueben Hanson made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Ivan Sanderson sent off a good shot on target. Felix Edmunds sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Felix Edmunds's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rueben Hanson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Felix Edmunds ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rueben Hanson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. 74 minutes in the game, Barry Rooney fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Rueben Hanson having to interfere. Will Goodman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leigh Bullard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Philip Poate's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rueben Hanson was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, British Knights's Rueben Hanson threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Pat Burns, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rueben Hanson made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Ivan Sanderson sent off a good shot on target. In the 81st minute, British Knights's Pat Burns dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. In the 87th minute, Barry Rooney fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Philip Poate in the 89th minute of play forced Salford FC's goalkeeper Rueben Hanson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rueben Hanson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pat Burns in the 94th minute of play. British Knights's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
