The referee ignored Salford FC's protests and gave Sean Wakefield a yellow card for diving instead. In the 2nd match minute, Salford FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sean Wakefield to maneuver through the defense. Alex Lineker charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Lineker the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 11th match minute, STAC XI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wally Purkiss to maneuver through the defense. Victor Sargent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jez Locke in the 17th minute of play forced Salford FC's goalkeeper Rueben Hanson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Jez Locke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rueben Hanson was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. If Jez Locke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 30 minutes of play, Salford FC's Shawn Brookes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Crispin Hayward was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Jez Locke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 42 minutes, Andre Thompson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the STAC XI and the Salford FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Andre Thompson hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Crispin Hayward took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Will Goodman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Will Goodman to make the kick off. Rueben Hanson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jez Locke went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. In the 56th match minute, STAC XI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andre Thompson to maneuver through the defense. Rueben Hanson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victor Sargent in the 60th minute of the match. Shawn Brookes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rueben Hanson made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Wally Purkiss sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Salford FC defense, Jez Locke kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rueben Hanson. The Salford FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rueben Hanson should have stopped the shot. Rueben Hanson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victor Sargent in the 71st minute of the match. Rueben Rowling kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Rueben Hanson was a little too slow when Victor Sargent got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 76th minute. The score was now 1-5. Rueben Hanson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Sargent in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Salford FC's goalkeeper Rueben Hanson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rueben Hanson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victor Sargent, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Salford FC's Rueben Hanson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Sargent in the 88th minute of play. A collision led to Salford FC getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Rueben Rowling hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute, Spike Hellen sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Salford FC's Rueben Hanson didn't even have to move. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Victor Sargent in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rueben Hanson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rueben Rowling hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match.
