An unexpectedly hard shot by Jimmy Brindley in the 51st minute of play forced Shoeburyness AFC's goalkeeper Luke Dobson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marek Dobson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Billy Ingram who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Marek Dobson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 77 minutes into the match, Shoeburyness AFC's Billy Ingram sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marek Dobson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Ian Hart had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Victor Dunne hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Southport AFC's zone, Kevin Wallbank stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marek Dobson came out of the goal and Kevin Wallbank tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
