Donny Bensley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tod Hough in the 13th minute of play. CJ Sutcliffe kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Bethnal Green and Hackney City defense, Tod Hough kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donny Bensley. The Bethnal Green and Hackney City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donny Bensley should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in FK Steaua Bucharest's zone, Tony Cardwell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Fitzsymon came out of the goal and Tony Cardwell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kirk Crouch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Tommy Fitzsymon made a huge save. CJ Sutcliffe got his second yellow card in the match during the 25th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 27th minute, FK Steaua Bucharest's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kirk Crouch fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A collision led to FK Steaua Bucharest getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Calvin Gibbons hit a great ball. Lewis Huckerby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Tommy Fitzsymon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tod Hough to make the kick off. Donny Bensley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tod Hough, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tommy Fitzsymon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kirk Crouch in the 59th minute of the match. Tommy Fitzsymon came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Bethnal Green and Hackney City's Kirk Crouch. But to his dismay, Kirk Crouch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After 66 played minutes Bethnal Green and Hackney City got a freekick which was hit by Jay Burgess. Donny Bensley made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Tod Hough sent off a good shot on target. Ian Bonds fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donny Bensley having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Kirk Crouch's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommy Fitzsymon was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Kirk Crouch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Tommy Fitzsymon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Kirk Crouch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tommy Fitzsymon was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Tod Hough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donny Bensley having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Bethnal Green and Hackney City fully deserved thier win.
