The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 6 played minutes Horsham AFC got a freekick which was hit by Liam Morrell. The Horsham AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Al Gardner should have stopped the shot. Al Gardner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale York, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Russell Haxby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Al Gardner. Horsham AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Russell Haxby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Dale York received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Al Gardner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Al Gardner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dale York, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karpaty Krosno's Russell Haxby got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute, Dale York got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Oscar Waple struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Al Gardner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Karpaty Krosno. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Russell Haxby in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Al Gardner saved Horsham AFC from getting behind. Oscar Waple scored 0-4 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Al Gardner, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Al Gardner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dale York in the 32nd minute of play. When Rufus Denham fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Horsham AFC's protests and gave Rufus Denham a yellow card for diving instead. Rufus Denham kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. 35 minutes into the game, Oscar Waple cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Al Gardner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Al Gardner came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Karpaty Krosno's Russell Haxby. But to his dismay, Russell Haxby quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. After some careless play in the Horsham AFC defense, Dale York kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Al Gardner. The Horsham AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Al Gardner should have stopped the shot. 46 minutes into the game, Karpaty Krosno's Dale York nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Al Gardner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-8. After the first half Karpaty Krosno were leading 0-8. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Phil McGrath was the one to do the kick off. Charlie Picker struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Al Gardner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Karpaty Krosno. Russell Haxby got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 0-9 in the right cross in the 88th match minute before Al Gardner had time to react. After 92 minutes, Giles Hutchinson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Horsham AFC and the Karpaty Krosno players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Horsham AFC's Giles Hutchinson got a free kick in the 92nd minute. The supporters of Karpaty Krosno booed when Horsham AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liam Morrell didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Karpaty Krosno could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Horsham AFC throughout the match.
