The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donny Garnett in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Charlie Broom saved Hashtag United from getting behind. After 7 minutes of play, Oakham United's Donny Garnett made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Charlie Broom was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 13th minute of the game, Jamal Frost landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Gregory Harper charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gregory Harper the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 16th minute, Hashtag United's Glyn Rouse seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Glyn Rouse the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Hashtag United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Glyn Rouse had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 16th minute, one of Hashtag United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Hashtag United. Samuel Ford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Noel Tandy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hashtag United's goalkeeper Charlie Broom, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 41 minutes into the game, Dom Lowe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oakham United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hashtag United the free kick. A collision led to Oakham United getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Dom Lowe hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Samuel Ford to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Donny Garnett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oakham United's supporters rose to their feet, but Donny Garnett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charlie Broom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frank Moorhouse recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Donny Garnett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charlie Broom having to interfere. Harvey Beadle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Noel Tandy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Donny Garnett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oakham United's supporters rose to their feet, but Donny Garnett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charlie Broom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 66 minutes into the game, Donny Garnett recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Charlie Broom. Donny Garnett showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Donny Garnett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Charlie Broom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Donny Garnett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oakham United's supporters rose to their feet, but Donny Garnett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charlie Broom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frank Moorhouse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Noel Tandy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harvey Beadle in the 81st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Hashtag United's zone, Donny Garnett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Broom came out of the goal and Donny Garnett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Donny Garnett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Charlie Broom read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. After having played for 89 minutes, Donny Garnett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oakham United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donny Garnett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Charlie Broom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donny Garnett, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute, Philip Jennings hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oakham United's Donny Garnett got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
